Can't delete artist from iPhone

Hello,

  I have an old artist I'm trying to delete off my iPod but she keeps reappearing every time I sync. I've permanently deleted all of her music off my iTunes (deleted everything by the artist and then double-checked it by typing in individual song titles. all gone.) and have even deleted everything that contains her name from my entire mac! Then I deleted her songs manually off my iPod, but nonetheless everytime I sync she's back on the iPod, but not in the iTunes or anywhere on my computer.

Where is she hiding!?! haha
